Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Barter Eats collects, uses, shares, and deletes information when creators and hospitality venues use the Barter Eats mobile app and related services.
Information we collect
- Account and profile details, including name, email address, phone number, profile image, authentication identifiers, account role, and creator tier.
- Venue and offer details, including business name, category, address, coordinates, description, photos, availability, and collaboration requirements.
- Collaboration activity, including requests, messages, selected slots, check-in records, content links, proof images, review notes, statuses, and disputes.
- Device and technical data needed for notifications, security, diagnostics, and service reliability, including push tokens, app version, device context, crash details, and request identifiers.
- Current location when you grant permission. It is used to show nearby venues and improve address results. You can deny or revoke this permission in device settings.
- Information you send when contacting support.
How we use information
- Provide authentication, invitations, profiles, offers, maps, and collaborations.
- Send requested service notifications about collaboration activity.
- Enforce check-in, proof, capacity, blocking, dispute, and safety rules.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
- Respond to support requests and meet legal obligations.
Barter Eats does not sell personal information and does not use it for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Service providers
We use providers that process information on our behalf to operate the service: Apple; Google services including Firebase and Google Maps; Expo and Apple Push Notification service; Railway for application and database hosting; Cloudflare R2 for uploaded media; and Sentry for error diagnostics. Their processing is also governed by their own terms and privacy notices.
Information visible to other users
Profile, venue, offer, and collaboration information is shown to other participants where needed to use the service. For example, venue operators can review creator profiles and submitted proof, while creators can view public venue and offer details. Do not upload private information that is unnecessary for a collaboration.
Retention and deletion
We retain account information while the account is active and as needed to operate and secure the service. You can permanently delete a non-admin account from Profile in the app. Deletion removes the account and associated application data, uploaded media, push tokens, and authentication account. Limited records may be retained when required by law, to address fraud or security, or in time-limited backups that are isolated from normal use.
Your choices
You can edit profile and venue information in the app, disable push notifications, revoke location or photo-library access in device settings, sign out, or delete your account. You may contact us to ask about your information or report a privacy concern.
Security and international processing
We use access controls, encrypted network connections, and service-provider security controls to protect information. No system can guarantee absolute security. Providers may process information in countries other than where you live, subject to applicable transfer safeguards.
Age restriction
Barter Eats is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above identifies the latest version. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
